Today in the #Amplifriday spotlight we have a nomination for a remarkable woman with a heart of gold and a passion to uplift others. The nomination comes from her colleague James Giles, and we think you’ll be quite inspired!
James writes: “I would like to nominate Katie Hutchins to be in the Amplifriday spotlight. She’s a great person and I appreciate all her continued work throughout our city. The reason I chose Katie is because I find her to be in a significant position with a lot of responsibility. She handles these responsibilities with a great deal of professionalism and understanding."
She has many gifts and interests, plus a heart for civil rights –standing up for the marginalized. She is an all-around excellent candidate, in my opinion, to be amplified.
Thank you, James, for taking the time to recognize a co-worker who is creating significant change in our community through her role with the Mustard Seed Kamloops as the Community Engagement and Volunteer Services Manager. We echo what you shared and add that Katie is a thoughtful and compassionate woman of strength and integrity. She is led by strong core values, and they show up in her work and in how she engages in community.

Last week, we had the privilege of amplifying Katie Hutchins' incredible impact. As part of AmpliFriday, we donate $100 to a charity of choice for our amplified individuals and Katie chose The Mustard Seed.
Katie explains, "The Mustard Seed team in Kamloops always serve others with grace and humility; some of the kindest people work at this organization."
The mission of the Seed has consistently been to encourage hope and well-being in our vulnerable neighbours. I've learned valuable lessons from this team and met incredible people.
Locally, The Mustard Seed is well known within the community for its service to individuals experiencing homelessness and poverty. However, the organization also serves as an incubator for future leaders, offering placements for students studying a range of disciplines, including occupational therapy, addictions and community support, social work, counselling, cybersecurity, speech-language pathology and criminal justice. This opportunity to fulfill their practicum credits and apply their classroom learning in real-life scenarios ensures that The Mustard Seed's impact extends beyond immediate relief, fostering the next generation of compassionate professionals.
