Taking on new challenges can be exciting and a little scary, but when we step out of our comfort zone and #BeBraveEngage, so many wonderful things can often happen for us. This is true for the founder and CEO of DEVA (Digital Executive Virtual Assistant) Training and Staffing Solutions, Sharon Marshall, a remarkable woman of impact in the #Amplifriday spotlight.
Sharon is focused. Laser focused. And it might just be because she’s been in the same shoes as many Indigenous women she helps – women who have yet to feel empowered to then realize their own brilliance.
I met Sharon at Pow Wow Pitch, an incredible event where Indigenous entrepreneurs pitch their company to a panel of judges with the hopes of getting investment dollars to help further amplify their business. I was a mentor and got to mentor Sharon. She told me that for many Indigenous women, chronic unemployment can lead to despair and negative coping mechanisms. But with training, support, and job experience as a virtual assistant, Indigenous women who have gone through her program are able to support their family through meaningful work and have a network of other women to lean on.

DEVA’s results are amazing. Of the 40 women who have completed the training and the four week work experience program, 100% of them have successfully obtained roles as virtual assistants. What make Sharon absolutely remarkable is her ability to see such a challenging issue facing many Indigenous women and doing something to make remarkable change, one woman - and as a result - one family at a time. She’s passionate, determined, and impacting the future for the better and we couldn’t be more proud to amplify her!

We were thrilled to amplify the remarkable impact of Sharon Marshall last week. As a part of AmpliFriday, we donate $100 to a charity of choice for our amplified individual, and Sharon chose the Sage Haven Society.
"I chose Sage Haven because they are committed to building a healthy community for those impacted by gender-based violence. I am collaborating with them to support their women in second-stage housing by providing digital skills training for employment and entrepreneurship opportunities."
Sage Haven envisions a safe, secure, and nurturing community free from gender-based violence. To achieve this, they offer abundant support, including counselling for children and women, transitional and second-stage housing, a drop-in Resource Centre, outreach services, sexual assault response (SARP) and victim services.
Congratulations again, Sharon, on being amplified; we are proud to support the Sage Haven Society by making a $100 donation in your honour.
