Virginia Martin

We love nominations for #Amplifriday (you’re welcome to make one too – see below!) of wonderful people making a remarkable impact. It’s very special when co-workers see the work of a colleague and reach out to us to nominate them, which is the case with Jesse Royce and his nomination for his co-worker Virginia Martin.

Jesse writes: “I’d like to nominate Virginia Martin from Kelson Group for all of the hard work she does raising money for diabetes research. Virginia is our go-to person at work and is loved by everyone. Her dedication to diabetes fundraising for research is amazing!”

Great nomination Jesse! Virginia has raised $15,313 for Juvenile Diabetes Research this year, and her reasons for this effort are awesome!

“It has been over 8 years since by daughter and my son were diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes only 6 months apart,” shared Virgina. “The disease effects not only those diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, but also their caregivers. During COVID, the disease took its toll on our mental health so not only am I raising money to continue with the wonderful research that JDRF is doing to find better solutions for treatment and hopefully one day a cure, but also to support their new mental health program to support those living with Type 1 Diabetes.”

Her fundraising page is here if you want to donate too!

Virginia – you are a remarkable person of impact! As is our team at Amplify Consulting Inc.’s commitment, we will donate $100 to a charity of your choice to further amplify both your remarkable impact and the charity’s.

We were thrilled to amplify the remarkable impact of Virginia Martin last week. As a part of AmpliFriday, we donate $100 to a charity of choice for our amplified individual, and Virginia chose the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), sharing,

"My children were diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) in 2013, and I began volunteering and fundraising for the JDRF Walk in 2014. Shortly after that, I joined JDRF as a committee member and a mentor for those families who were newly diagnosed. In my first year of fundraising, I only raised $300, $100 of which was my donation, so I am very proud of what I accomplished this year ($15,413 to date!) thanks to the support of my coworkers, friends, and contractors that work closely with Kelson Group Property Management. I am happy to fundraise for JDRF because I know the money goes into research to help those living with T1D live a little better and support their mental health needs and those of their caregivers. I see the yearly progress and firmly believe it will only improve."

Since their inception over 50 years ago, JDRF has contributed to most breakthroughs in T1D research. JDRF funding has been instrumental in developing and improving therapies to support those living with T1D while they await a cure and is currently applied to designing better, smaller, less intrusive devices, advancing next-generation insulins and other drugs that improve glucose control, and improving mental health. Despite the name, it is important to note that an equal number of children and adults are diagnosed with T1D daily.

Congratulations again, Virginia, on being amplified; we are excited to support JDRF by making a $100 donation in your honour.
